Heating Guidelines
Remember these guidelines with heating:
- Adopt to using programmers to heat rooms occasionally
- Turn your heating down rather than opening windows
- Choose the right size of storage heaters for the size of rooms you have
- Turn your room temperature down by 1oC can reduce your bill by 10% a year
- Try not to cover heaters with curtains or furniture because this prevents heat from circulating
- Make sure you have your boiler serviced regularly
- Change your boiler if it is over 15 years old this will save you 20% on your bill
- Have a shower instead of a bath because a bath uses 5 times as much water as a shower
- Use a washing up bowl in the kitchen sink so that you do not use as much hot water
- Change washers on dripping taps
- Avoid drying clothes on radiators because it makes your boiler work harder
