Heating Guidelines

Remember these guidelines with heating:

• Adopt to using programmers to heat rooms occasionally
• Turn your heating down rather than opening windows
• Choose the right size of storage heaters for the size of rooms you have
• Turn your room temperature down by 1oC can reduce your bill by 10% a year
• Try not to cover heaters with curtains or furniture because this prevents heat from circulating
• Make sure you have your boiler serviced regularly
• Change your boiler if it is over 15 years old this will save you 20% on your bill
• Have a shower instead of a bath because a bath uses 5 times as much water as a shower
• Use a washing up bowl in the kitchen sink so that you do not use as much hot water
• Change washers on dripping taps
• Avoid drying clothes on radiators because it makes your boiler work harder
